An annual survey of recreational boaters found the Safe Boating Campaign continues to have a positive impact on boater behavior, specifically the impact on life jacket wear, attitudes and safety behavior of boaters.
Life Jacket Labels
Did you know there is a new life jacket label? The label is being phased in and you may see it printed on the inside of a new life jacket. The new label DOES NOT make obsolete life jackets with the old label. Always look for a life jacket that is U.S. Coast Guard approved.
Remember, the best life jacket is one you wear! Your life jacket should be appropriate for your water activity and in good condition. Life jackets with a tear, broken pieces, or buoyancy loss should be disposed.
Wear Your Life Jacket To Work Day
Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day is May 21, 2021. Wear your life jacket, snap a picture while at work and share on social media with the hashtags #lifejacket2work and #safeboating.
Hosted by the National Safe Boating Council, this annual event is a fun, educational way to heighten life jacket awareness and highlight the various styles just prior to the official launch of the Safe Boating Campaign.
National Safe Boating Week
The Safe Boating Campaign kicks off the weekend before Memorial Day with National Safe Boating Week and continues throughout the year with various events and activities.
Please review the Partner Toolkit with updated information regarding COVID-19.
Ready, Set, Wear It
Ready, Set, Wear It is hosted by boating safety advocates around the world to share about the importance of always wearing a life jacket. It may be a standalone event or incorporated into other local outreach efforts. It is celebrated throughout the summer on various dates. #RSWI
