Woman Meets with FWC Rescuers following Jet Ski Accident in Destin
Saved by the Jacket
Denell Hendricks was recreating on a jet ski with her granddaughter in the Gulf, when a wave caused them to be knocked off their jet ski. Her granddaughter was able to return to the jet ski and was located by a dolphin cruise. Unfortunately, Hendricks was swept out to sea by the current. Thankfully, Hendricks was wearing a life jacket that saved her life. Her goal is to make sure everyone knows the importance of wearing a bright colored life jacket, so it doesn’t blend in with the water. FWC officials said “while life jacket colors do matter, having a life jacket on at all — even for something like paddle boarding — is the most important thing.”
