Barnstable Fire, Harbormaster Rescue Overturned Kayaker

Saved by the Jacket

The Barnstable Fire Department was dispatched at 1:14 p.m. Saturday for an overturned kayak with one man in distress approximately a half mile off-shore from the Scudder’s Lane town landing. The on-shore firefighters and Barnstable Police located the person, who was wearing a life jacket. Marine 219 and a Barnstable Harbormaster vessel retrieved the person from the water, and the harbormaster secured the individual’s kayak.
