Coast Guard, Good Samaritan Rescue Fisherman After Boat Sinks in Outer Banks

The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued a man after his fishing boat sunk approximately 20 miles southwest of Kitty Hawk on Monday. The aircrew directed a nearby good Samaritan vessel to the location of the sunken boat, where the crew managed to rescue the man who was wearing a life jacket in 46-degree water. He was transferred to EMS waiting at the Alligator River marina and treated for hypothermia.
