Coast Guard Rescues Injured Kayaker Off Atlantic City

Saved by the Jacket

The Coast Guard rescued a man who suffered a head laceration after his kayak capsized off the coast of Atlantic City on Saturday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay were notified via radio of a kayaker in distress. “This kayaker took the right safety measures by wearing a life jacket by notifying a relative of where they were planning to go,” Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Box, a watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia, said in a statement. “These safety precautions drastically increase survivability and decrease search time when a boater is in need.”
